Recently, new rules affecting immigrants’ stay in the city shelters have been implemented in New York. While these changes aim to address the immigration crisis the city is facing, they also raise concerns about the safety and well-being of undocumented immigrants. Stay Restrictions

Under the new rules, undocumented single adult immigrants will be allowed to stay in shelters for a maximum of 30 days. After this period, they will be required to leave the shelters and find their own housing. Young adults aged 18 to 23 will have a longer shelter period of 60 days. However, families with children will not be affected by the changes and can remain in the shelters.
